Paul Bunyan Installation Issues:
We are in the process of
releasing our new 3.0
version for Paul Bunyan.
Currently, we have a variety
of issues with installing
the new 3.0 version if you
have attempted to install an
unsupported 2.x version on
Vista x64, Windows 7 or
Windows Server 2008.
To be able to install over a
corrupted install, you will
need to manually remove the
old failed install.
The steps are as follows:
-
The current beta has a
simple log file it writes in
C:\ that stores information
about the install that you
will need. If you are unsure
of how to find any of the
information you will need in
the steps below - please go
ahead and try to install the
3.0 version and check for
c:\PBInstallLog.txt
-
In the PBInstallLog.txt file
there is a line that you
will need and it will look
like:“File:W:\PB\PBService\FShared.cpp, Line:2367, Msg:LIoh0comju”
- The text after the
Msg:LI is the old
license file - in this
case, it will be
c:\windows\oh0comju.dat
- Delete the file in
C:\windows that
corresponds to the
license file in your
installation
-
Open a cmd prompt and type
the following:
- net stop "Paul
Bunyan"
-
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Diamond Sierra" /f
- reg delete "HKCU\Software\Diamond Sierra" /f
- reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Diamond Sierra" /f
- If you have the Microsoft Resource kit installed - you can delete the server using instsrv.exe
- instsrv "Paul Bunyan" REMOVE
- If you do not
have instsrv.exe,
then you can go to
Services in
Administrative
Tools and
delete the Paul
Bunyan Service
- Assuming you attempted to install Paul Bunyan into the default directory: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Diamond Sierra\Paul Bunyan'
-
Delete the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Diamond Sierra\Paul Bunyan
and the files in it
-
Depending a variety
of factors, you may
have to delete the
files from the
directory in
explorer and then
delete the directory
-
In some cases, the
file PBServer.exe
may be locked, in
this case you will
need to boot the
computer into
Safe Mode and
then go can delete
the file.
-
If you did not
install to the
default directory -
please delete the
files from the
directory where you
installed Paul
Bunyan to
- At this time, the
corrupted installation
of Paul Bunyan should be
removed. Please
reboot and install the
latest 3.0 version.
- Go to Services and
check to see that Paul
Bunyan service is
running, if not - check
the event log and email
support@diamondsierra
your PBInstallLog.txt
file and the information
in the event log
pertaining to Paul
Bunyan
- If the Service is
running, then try a
command line log message
and then open the viewer
to display the message.
