Once the desired message server connections are established and the log messages downloaded to the viewer, the next step is to fine tune the display. This is accomplished by modifying the query’s filter or display settings.
The Filter dialog is an easy way to modify the query to filter out undesired log messages, allowing the viewer to focus on the messages of interest. The Display Settings dialog allows modification of virtually any visual facet of the query from displayed fields and sort orders to date/time formats and refresh options. These dialogs are reached through the Query | Filter and Query | Display Settings menu commands respectively or by right-clicking on a query.
