On this page
What it means
A page uses an image or file from your media folder that is no longer on the server. Often the image was deleted from the Media Library, or the page asks for a resized copy that no longer exists.
Paul Bunyan Professional finds these with its broken links scan, which reads your posts, pages, products, page-builder layouts, menus and widgets.
Usual causes
- The image or file was deleted from the Media Library while pages still use it.
- The page asks for a resized copy (for example image-300x200.jpg) that is no longer on the server, after image sizes changed or the copies were removed.
- Files were left behind when the site was moved to a new server or folder.
What to do
Open Paul Bunyan > Broken links. When the original image is still there, it suggests the right address; Replace fixes it in the post.
Replace changes only that exact address in image and link attributes (src, srcset and href) and in a block's saved settings, and keeps an undo copy. When the original is gone too, upload the image again and pick it in the editor.
How to check the fix
Press Scan now on the Broken links screen. A fixed image or file no longer appears in the list.
